Restaurant carriage Krogen
During the journey you can visit our restaurant carriage Krogen, where we serve breakfast, hot meals, beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks in a relaxed setting.
We recommend booking a table when purchasing your ticket. You can also add table reservations and meals afterwards via My Journey.
If you only fancy a coffee or a snack, there is also a self-service checkout in Krogen with coffee, tea, soft drinks, sandwiches, pastries and snacks that you can easily take back to your seat.

Here you will find answers to some of the most common questions about travelling between Stockholm, Malmö and Copenhagen.
Snälltåget operates daily departures all year round between Stockholm, Malmö and Copenhagen. Current departure times and fares can be found in the online booking.
Book 2–3 weeks in advance and choose travel days other than Friday or Sunday. The cheapest tickets start from SEK 149 one way between Stockholm and Malmö and from SEK 299 one way between Stockholm and Copenhagen. These prices apply to departures where demand is usually lower.
Yes, we offer several discounts on seat tickets:
- Group ticket: 25% discount when several people travel together
- Youth discount (16–25 years): approx. 20% discount
- Student discount: 25% discount with a valid student ID
- Senior discount (60+): approx. 20% discount
Tickets purchased on Snälltåget.se can be changed up to 24 hours before departure. You can also choose refundable tickets for an additional fee.
With our connecting bus service “Snälltåget on the road”, you can continue your journey between Alvesta, Växjö, Tingsryd, Karlshamn, Ronneby and Karlskrona.
On certain departures between Stockholm and Malmö you can book a private compartment. The compartment accommodates up to six people and is a good option if you would like to sit undisturbed or travel together with family or friends.
This option is shown in the online booking when available.
Travelling by train is one of the most climate-friendly ways to travel. Snälltåget operates on renewable electricity, mainly from hydropower. Our connecting buses run on fossil-free fuels (RME or HVO).
Our modern locomotives are energy efficient and feed energy back into the system when braking. The more passengers travelling on the same train, the lower the climate impact per person.
We also use porcelain and glass in the restaurant carriage to reduce disposable materials.
A return journey with Snälltåget between Malmö and Stockholm has a very low climate footprint. For one passenger, emissions amount to approximately 505 grams of CO₂ when both electricity production and transmission losses in the power grid are included. If only the electricity consumption itself is considered, the climate impact is as low as 2 grams of CO₂.
By comparison, a flight on the same route emits around 156,000 grams of CO₂, according to Klimatsmartsemester.se, and around 93,000 grams of CO₂ if only fuel consumption is included according to the SAS emission calculator (A320NEO).
A car journey in a petrol-powered Volvo V60 corresponds to approximately 55,170 grams of CO₂ per person, calculated based on four people travelling in the car.
Even buses produce higher emissions than trains: a journey by an HVO-powered bus generates around 3,269 grams of CO₂, while a diesel bus produces approximately 29,424 grams of CO₂, according to the Swedish Energy Agency and Klimatsmart Semester.
